One of the most important, and fun, parts of raising a family is taking kids out on an adventure! You might not have the time to worry about a play date, or work commitments that don’t allow you to leave your child with someone else; but getting together once in a while isn’t going to kill you either. Find the best activities for you and your children near you.

Activities to enjoy with your kids

Kids love spending time outside and there are plenty of great activities to do near you that don’t require a lot of equipment.  You can find so many activities by conducting an online search for things to do with kids near me and introducing your child to so many other fun activities.

Here are few great activities:

1) Go to the park – A day at the park is a great way to spend a summer day with your kids. Bring a picnic and make sure to pack some blankets or chairs so that everyone can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. If there’s a pool onsite, that bonus is even better.

2) Go swimming – Swimming can be enjoyed by all ages, making it a great choice for family fun. Rock climbing may be more challenging but can provide an equal amount of excitement. Just be sure to warn your little ones about any potential dangers before getting into the pool!

3) Bike ride – Another great summer activity is biking. This allows for plenty of different routes to explore, as well as ample opportunity for racing each other around the block (or wherever you happen to find yourself). And if kids end up getting too hot, they can always take a break in one of the many local parks with a picnic area set up for them.

4) Watermelon tasting: Nothing beats the sweetness of a sunny day spent outdoors enjoying some delicious watermelon. Grab a blanket and set up a picnic table in your backyard or park, and have at it!

5) Walk around town: If you live in a big city, explore it on foot – there’s sure to be something interesting (and picture-worthy) nearby for kids of all ages!

6) Plant a  tree: If there isn’t a tree in your backyard yet, look for a local park or nature preserve and help your kids plant a seed – they’ll be excited to see it grow over time!

7) Catch a summer film: Head to the nearest movie theater and enjoy a summer flick under the stars (or indoors if the weather is bad)! Be sure to bring some snacks and drinks for everyone, and make sure to pack some blankets or fleece blankets if inclement weather threatens.

8) Play video games: Nothing beats sinking into the cushions of your sofa with your children and indulging in some killer video games together. If you want to get more involved, consider picking up a controller for some extra-hard-core multiplayer fun!

9) Learn about animals: Head to a zoo or animal park nearby and learn all about the different types of animals that live there – your kids are sure to be fascinated!

10) Create art: Whether it’s painting, drawing, or sculpting, letting your youngsters loose in the arts is always lots of fun! There are endless possibilities, so get creative and have some fun yourself!

11) Hiking: If you have a nearby park or forest, take your kids on a hike. Hiking is a great way for kids to get their cardiovascular exercise and learn about nature. You can also find hikes with more challenging routes for older kids or adults.

12) Climbing: Another great activity for outdoorsy families is climbing. There are many parks and climbing gyms in the area that offer safe climbs for all ages and experience levels. Not only is this fun, but it’s also good exercise!

13)  Fishing: Fishing is another excellent outdoor activity that can be enjoyed by both young and old alike. Fish abound in local lakes and ponds, making this an easy and affordable way to spend some quality time together.
